Stephen Maturin would have begged Captain Jack Aubrey leave to stay on the island for a few days. Jack would have obliged his particular friend...if he weren't chasing down some raiding French or American ship.

People on Lord Howe would rather continue having rats rather than trying to re-establish this critter? Whew...and I thought that I had thick-headed moments!

When I watched the hatching I felt my arms and legs tense trying to help the little bugger out!
