Vermeer SC30TX

Why are you only checking out Vermeer? As far as I m concerned the Vermeer don't stand up as well as others, if your interested in a stumper check around

I find vermeer is best for service and parts. Around here the bandit dealer is absolutely horrible and the Carleton dealer isn't mich better. I find stumpers and chippers are very specialized equipment that only a select few number of people know how to work on them

Total opposite the Vermeer dealer even with bran new facility they are shoe salesmen morons. The bandit dealer doesn't stock any parts but can get um for a jacked price the morbark dealer is good but a little farther. Like weller tree said, can't beat the Rayco's rg50 is nice see if you can get a super model lil more power. I ran a 60tx for 6 yrs, i miss the tracks but haven't looked back. Currently running a rg70

All I run is bandit Carlton and Rayco ,Rayco was only stumper in my yard till this year but I tried all makes except morbark and now I have A new bandit 2650 and 2 new 2890 bandits ( still have 8 Rayco )

I will admit Vermeer parts was good , lol during demo machine broke down and they sent another,
When I demoed chippers I went through 3 in 2 days and they kept bringing them. Parts and service is only 1 part machine reliability is the most important thing to remember ,

Vermeer's SC30 is a blatant rip off of the Toro STX26. We demoed one immediately after it came available from a local dealer. Crew felt the Toro a better machine, which we have >200hrs on.

Neither of these machines is a good primary stump grinder. They are a fantastic accessory grinder to pickup tight locations or sites where there are numerous stumps scattered over a wide area. (The Toro is fast in transit)

I just rented and ran the SC30 TX again today and saw why it has less power than a 252 with similar engine. It runs the cutter wheel with hydro power and thus bleeds off a % of engine power.

Still awesome for maneuverability.

I had the stx26 and it was a great machine. Then they came out with the stx38 and even better. Also has auto sweep which modulates the machine itself. The bad thing about the attachment 38hp stumper is you cannot use your mini to move wood while someone else is doing a stump.

The stx38 is the best kept secret in the business. I have a PJ single axle trailer with a spring loaded drop gate and can just fit both my 525tx Dingo and the stx38 stumper on side by side. My drive around pickup has both a stumper and mini loader on every job without going back to the shop.

I also have a nice remoted 65hp vermeer tow behind that runs perfect. I can't remember it going out at all last year. My guy got so good with the stx that while I was cutting etc and got ready to go back and get the tow behind, he had even 10' wide stumps done.

I just fired him a few weeks ago so yesterday I had the Vermeer dusted off with a tune up at my mechanic for whatever happens this year with my new guy and the small stumper.

But Mango is right as really you should have a big machine and the small one for the great ground speed and manuverability/access they give. The big one comes in handy for stuff like a 15' wide uprooted root plate I have to do this week. But if you have to have one...I'd go the small one and sub the big stumps out til you get a big unit.

The stx38 still has plenty of power even tho straight hydro power and....drum roll...no fkn belts to deal with. When the power is knocked down grinding, it comes right up again also unlike belted machines.

I still donr understand why you wouldnt buy a mini with a stump grinder attachment instead, seems it would be way more versatile for the money.
I looked into that. The problem I faced was were generally loading logs with mini while stumps being ground. Or in other words both machines were, or can be utilitized simultaneously. If the grinders on attached to mini that's not working in my favor for my small operation.

If I would buy a dedicated machine, I definetly wouldn't want to be standing behind it with the poor view.

I hear ya . I have two Stumpers both with swing out controls(rayco1635super Jr)(vermeer50tx) for a good view working stumps. Ideally I'm saving to remote the big one. The remote seems real nice. I wonder if it could be done to a mini?...

Got a intermittent hydraulic issue with my SC30 TX... can operate normal at times and other times is operated slow on the sweep after restarting... need help??? Bad I-ring in handle assembly?
