Looking to see if anyone disabled or changed the operator presence on this machine?

What I would prefer to do is unlock the bucket controls, so they work all the time. The parking brake/rod, I would like operated by a simple on off switch.

If I have to have a on off switch that controls parking and bucket controls, I can live with it.

Not being able to adjust hydraulics is just a bit bothersome. I mostly don't like the parking rod coming out when I am chaining it down to the truck. The rod is getting damaged.

I found the switch and exposed the wires (via stripping, switch is sealed). But don't want to mess something up by doing trial and error.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Update on me looking into things

I traced the 5 wire switch back to the harness plug. Once it connects to the harness it only has 2 wires. I figured I could deal with a 2 wire system. On the switch end of the plug I cut the wires (figured I can replace if necessary). Found the 2 wires that had connectivity when switch was activated. Then used these 2 wires to connect an on/off switch...didnt work.

Only way I could get mini operable again, was to rejoin all 5 wires on switch end.

PS- everything remains locked if I unplug switch or relay.
Right now I am thinking to just zip tying the switch in engine compartment somewhere. Factory switch needs depressed to lock, so no need to taped down button on switch. But would really like to put an on/off switch on it...so I can park on hills etc.

Safety stuff like this is usually not only failsafe but very simple...they want it to be hard to by-pass yet very dependable... it's their butt on the line... would like to hear what you find out. With wires all things are possible!

Ok,

If you put a normal flip switch between the black(with white strip...always hot) wire and the all black wire, it works.

So now if I want to engage brake rod and lock out controls, I just flip a switch on the dash. Right now the switch is just a plain toggle. Planning on getting a lighted switch, that is lit up when brake in engaged.

grr.

not completely fixed. switch only keeps parking rod from coming out while power is on. So in other words, when I load mini on the truck I have to leave it on till it is chained down.

If you or one of your guys has an accident on that machine and a safety system has been tampered with, you are f#cked. Even if you could live with someone getting hurt, you're most likely gonna become some bad man's boyfriend in jail. Just something to think about.

First I could be wrong, but none of the other mini skids have operator presence switches on them (least none I used).

Secondly, I don't really feel it is a "safety" feature. It is more like their version of a parking brake to keep it from rolling while no one is at controls. The bobcat has a lever you have to engage to lock tracks...I have a now have a dash switch. Plus tracks still auto lock on shut off. All I've done is change the location of switch to enable machine to be strapped down by one guy without damaging the machine.

This just came to me after seeing a pic of the operating table.

How about installing a spring pin, through the side of the machine. When the pin is in, it will prevent the operating table from springing up. When you pull the spring pin, it will allow use of the brake/ allowing the table to spring up.

Thinking one of these, installed through the side frame, it would slide through a hole drilled at the height of where the operators platform is fully weighted down.

How in the world have you convinced yourself that a system to prevent a run away machine is not a safety feature?? As BigWood said, if somebody gets hurt using that machine you are triple F'ed.

You will definitely open your self up to being held liable for damages or personal injury occurring as a result of altering or modifying any safety device or sensor.
