vermeer 1230???

Hey tree buzz world out there ....I am in the market for a chipper and have seen several Vermeer 1230's in my area. Any feedback from people who have used them would be awesome. Can they keep up with a bc1000? Thanks in advance

What's the BC 1000 a 10 inch machine?I know the 1230 is a 12 inch machine.I'm sure they chip the same if they both have the same h.p.I had 2 1230's and didn't like them much,but then again I'm not much of a vermeer fan anyway.If I were you I would buy a morbark or a bandit.But that's just my opinion,I'm sure a lot of guys love their vermeer's.

I think that the vermeer 1400bc is a much better machine. I am not a fan of their smaller chippers, although 12" is not small. I like the 1400, but sold my 03' several years ago for a morbark 1300 that had a 120hp jd diesel and it was a rockin machine, it had a 13' or 14' capacity and it was better than the 1400.

I recently sold that for and eagerbeaver1800 which is a morbark with a 18" capacity and it has a 140 or 150 jd turbo diesel and it is a bad biotch. I really like morbarks and think that they are super heavy duty, very strong machines.

Morbarks are also less money than bandits or vermeers. I got that 2002 18" for 18500 bucks and it was mint with 800 hours and it now has 2150 hours and the only prob I have had is that I had to replace the drum bearings. It has been very reliable and strong. Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for.

Ps- treetrader.com is a great place to find nice used equipment. I have found nearly all of my equipment there with the exception of my grinder which I bought new.

I have a bandit 250 and love it, I just want something mainly for pruning jobs and smaller removals that doesnt weigh 7500 pounds. Any word on a woodchuck 1995 diesel?
