TreeSpyder, thanks for the explanation. I think I’m going to have to read it a few times before it sinks in, and I understand it completely.
Stevebullman, the 4-2 (4 coils, 2 braids, I think is what you mean) is what I’ve used ½ dozen times or so recently. I find that it can loosen more than I like. I have to lean back carefully to make sure it’s set when I change position. It might be me since I’m pretty new to this. That’s why I became interested in the Knut hitch after reading Mark Adams excellent piece on climbing hitches in the articles section.
