Ushba is now Liberty Mountain

I was checking out the latest prices on the Ushba Ascenders to find out they were bought out!

Does anyone like the Ushba ascender? Is it easy to advance up the rope when in action? Is there any creeping?

Ushba Ascender

Should I buy one of these buggers, or not?

Liberty Mtn Supply/Advanced Base Camp has been one of the Ushba distributors for a while. They don't own Ushba as far as I know.

Read the description...it says that it isn't meant to be used as a lead climbing ascender. Go to Storrick's site and read up on them too.

Dan House from Kansas City has been using an Ushba for a long time and likes it alot.

Yeah Tom I got that...

Anyone like to actually contribute to answering the questions?

I missed that...

Ushba gets good reviews. the only negative is that it looses just a little up-movement each time because of the way it rolls. I've seen Dan use his several times and it is very smooth.

I have one I'll give you, Jamin for $30.00. Only been used for demonstration purposes.

And for another $20 I'll throw in the little Ushy. Top quality grabs for a fraction of the cost.

And if you do want them I'll be attending ISA at Providence and can bring them. Save you shipping if you're going there.

i of course will wait for jamin to decide if he wants them or not but if he passes them up i will buy them from you.

ahhhhhhh more gear, im lovin it. They should go well with the kolibri saddle i just bought yesterday. ahhhhhhhhhhh

I'll give Jamin until the 15 to decide if he wants it or not.

I have used the USHBA Basic for years now first because I wanted a tooth-less ascender.

Then I wanted anything Titanium- just holding it messes with your mind because it feels like it isn't there but you hand has hold of it.

I have it rigged as a replacement for a friction hitch that self-advances; the “bridge” is less than 2”; descends when you roll it back a touch.

I have it tethered to my center delta with a 17” web-loop to put it within arm’s reach but high enough so I can pull down with both hands.

Add a foot loop and you go up with four limb drive.
The web-loop is girthed at the delta then a biner at the USHBA on the down rope and then the up rope has a spliced eye that secures to the biner so it works just like a split-tail.

Moves like butter; self-advances; performs like a split-tail; descends with a twist- but take it slow.

To reduce the effort to stop while descending I have the down rope threaded thru two biners- one under the USHBA and the other on the delta. Acts like a 3:1 MI but times two for a DbRT equals a holding force of 6:1 plus system friction- EZ.

When needed you can rap down the line and stop on a dime with a gentle stop of the down rope.

Once you go Ti you never go back. Atomic weight of 22 is one of the lightest of all the metals but it sure is tuff!

See you at the top,
Dan House

Great information Dan. And welcome to the Buzz, BTW! Looks like I've been a little too busy with the business lately to grab Jerry's offer...
