Urban Lumber

Location
Minnesota
I came across this article in the paper about a company, Wood From the Hood, in Minneapolis that uses urban trees and mills them into flooring, cabinets, furniture, or pretty much anything else. Pretty cool operation.

Wood From the Hood

I am sure any of you buzzers from Minnesota that were at the Shade Tree Short Course saw these guys there.

Sounds like a good program.

There are a number of bandsaw mill operators here. I am going to take down a holly tree. There is a saw miller that will go halves with me on the boards. I take it down, he mills it up. Otherwise, I'd give it to some woodturners.

We have built a large garden pergola from cedar, framed 8 cord firewood shed in salvaged Doug-fir, and have maple and madrone boards drying in the barn. Have some walnut that might get milled, too. Burls, too.

How about you Rgus? You have any salvage lumber? Others?
