upcoming climbs?

Hello,
I've just recently moved from California to British Columbia and I'm interested in finding out if there are going to be any organized climbs this summer, like some of the big ones in Northern California? Or smaller ones for that matter, or any recreational climbs going on this summer. Thanks for any information. Russell

Just wanted to let you know there will be a PlantAmnesty.org treeclimbing training event at Magnuson Park in Seattle the weekend of August 21-22. Hope you can make it. We need volunteers to help us set up & fit safety gear, etc.

Jerry Beranek & I are planning another redwood climb for next spring. The TREE Fun(d) Redwood Climb will be at the Redwoods River Resort that is next door to the Treehouse. The tree is not quite so big, about 237' or so? We won't be pruning it, just picnicing and enjoying the view.

Spots on the climbing party with accomodations will be auctioned off at the ISA conference in Pittsburg during the TREE Fund auction. A video will be produced, and the proceeds from distribution in the Bishop arborist supply catalog will be a source of ongoing funding for the TREE Fund.

Arboreally yours,

Ox

We are planning a hemlock (9+ft dbh) climb up by Mt. St. Helens mid august. There might also be an Olympic Coast backpacking/tree climbing expedition in early sept.

Would be interested in the Mt. Saint Helens climb. For those who didn't hear, this is a volcano in southwest Washington that erupted around 1980, flattening the forest for miles with the shock wave.

They have built about $30 million worth of roads & improvements to replace access that was lost. Where is this Hemlock tree? Gnarly Hemlocks are a joy to climb, with real widely spaced scaffold limbs and spreading, flared rootwads.

The Sept. date in the Olympic mountains better be very early, like before school starts. My 16 y/o son, Robert would like that neighborhood.
