Why do you think the results would be less than stellar? What faults do you predict?

I may be wrong, but there is not much mass at the tip of the short L so drilling a hole there, for a bolt, will not be very strong. The newly formed U will be supported on just one side, that combined with the stress at the bolt hole makes me think it won't take much force to cause a bend or crack failure.

It has been awhile so I thought an update was in order. My initial concerns on the shoulder bolt mod appear to have been unwarranted. In fact, of all the things that I have experimented with on the Uni, it is probably the most useful. I am sure it could still be damaged from misuse but I have had no such problems. Good mod.

One of the ways to improve the function of the slotted lower connection is to cut a keeper from a short piece of Big Shot tubing. This holds firmly while at the same time it allows for some flexibility.

With regards to this picture, I do not find the need to use the RW in normal climbing mode, but it was easy to clip on for long descents and can be left on if more one-handed control is needed for swings.

It was questioned in another thread if Rocket line worked with the Uni. Yes it does. The Uni follows the same tendencies of other friction tools in use. Skinny, hard rope tends to increase sensitivity while fat, soft rope increases grip and stability.
