Here's a knot, about 2/3's of the way down page, that we use a lot with high tension pulls. It doesn't lock up as bad when we use it to pull over (break off) rotten trees.

We will use it also when we have to put our 1/2" Amsteel Blue with two round turns around the bole of a tree, somewhat of a tensionless anchor. Less likely to melt the rope at the knot.

Re: \"Two Hole Bowline\"

Commonly called a Mountaineering Bowline.

I haven't noticed it being any better than a regular bowline.

Re: \"Two Hole Bowline\"

Good Knot also called double barrel bowline. Water bowline is a clove hitch in place of double barrel. Tuck a short bight for a slipped double barrel bowline easy to untie after heavy loading.Knots reduce strength of amsteel by up to 50%, It seems to me that a couple of round turns on a tree will take the majority of the load maybe eliminating that downgrade.

1. That's what I've known it as too.
2. Starting off with a 'round turn' is recommended for class 2 fibers. I go a step further and use the 'yosemite tieoff' after starting with a round turn in Dyneema products.

Re: \"Two Hole Bowline\"

I have found a bowline on the bight a bit easier for my dyslexic mind and just as easy to untie. Plus, it is midline. Rarely do I find I have the exact length line!!
