Well, I've had my share of shots fired across my bow here and some of the shooters are now off the list of users.
I know people on "other sites" look at this one without much love but that is going to happen.
like minded folks tend to congregate. That is one of nature's laws.
Consequently not everyone will feel comfortable, nor will everyone fit in.
Then again, there will always be the square peg trying/wanting to fit into the round hole. Such people will write as FT just did (btw FT great sarcasm there!)
I have never felt that I shouldn't post something here because of the potential response of others.
Yeah, there have been a lot of harsh, rude and inappropriate comments but there is always something worthwhile that is offered.
Remember, sometimes ya gotta move a lot of dirt for a little bit of gold.
Something to keep in mind, if a responder to a post takes personal shots at the poster(questioning their intelligence or IQ, calling them stoopid, labeling them or the ideas, or just calling them names) then you know a couple of things about the person responding that way:

[*]they are being intellectually lazy on the subject at hand
[*]they are ignorant on the subject at hand
[*]they are immature
[*]they desperately feel a need for attention
[*]or all of the above

A wise sage once shared with me that you cannot enter into a debate with someone like that because it is like debating a 3 year old...logic will have nothing to do with their position and no matter how much logic you present them they will not change their position. They will continue to say the sky is green because they want it to be green.
Here on the buzz I had some run-ins with a couple of the famous antagonists. I quickly learned that debating them was like wrassling a pig in mud...after a while I discovered they liked it.
Needless to say,I stopped engaging them in debate.
Anyhow, Jamin, you bring up a good question. What is our turn over?
A relevant question would follow, do we lose good participants in debate as part of that turn over and do we lose a significant number of new participants because of the few argumentative/immature post(er)s?
Of course, if we can answer that what does it mean and what should, if anything, we do?
