Tub grinder

The local mulch yard here has a horizontal Bandit, not sure of the model, that seems to be riddled with repairs and it's less than a year old. That said they do try to use it at two different mulch yards and commercial jobs.

This particular grinder maxes out at 24", if wood diameter exceeds that, they charge a higher rate unless you cut it to below 24" in length. That seems to be their largest bottleneck. They have stacks and stacks of logs they can't feed through and apart from a couple of chainsaws I don't believe they have any equipment to break down the larger stuff.

I’m not sure if this is a county reg or state thing here, but our local green waste yard who does have a number of different grinders is required to be self contained for fires. Granted with the equipment they have it’s not too big of a deal, but they do buy old fire tenders as they come available.
The green waste yard has caught fire annually for the past few years in Everett.
They charge us to dump everything but chips, however their fees are basically a nothing compared to what I hear from y’all. 5-20$ with very little consistency in price, meaning sometimes a load of logs is 20$ and a few chucks of wood is 5$.. other times the opposite?! It doesn’t matter really just no rhyme or reason I can figure out. I use to think it was based on the size of the pile and their need for material, but that isn’t plainly apparent either.

They are very strict too, no brush can have chips. Even if paying to dump and the chips go into the brush pile. It’s more of a fire risk thing, where the chips get hot, and the brush makes big enough air pockets to either hold methane or oxygen.
