Truck mats

This is a little off topic, and I do know these mats are for driving on but has anyone had any experiences using them for crash pads when you're blocking down, so you don't wreck soft lawns. How much of a beating can they take. I know for a fact if they get too close to the stumper they get a little smaller in a hurry, so do watch out for that.
