Tricks for fast footlocking

Hi.

I have seen some guys who put the footlock-sling "out of the way", by putting it around their arm - or something like that.
Does anyone has some good ideas?

I have seen it in competitions and it looked like a really good idea.....

I footlock on a 11mm samson velocity, which is my preferred acces rope. And with a small biner attaching my footlocksling to my t-shirt.
Any other preferences?
I would like to take a few seconds off my time...

Yes. Almost anyone I know do that. Just with i small karabiner. It keeps the bridge (from your harness) and the karabiner from getting tangled up - and preventing you from streching propperly.
What do you doo?

You aren't permitted to wrap the prussic around your arm in a comp. I've seen the tshirt thing, there are lots of variations with elastic loops and stuff. Nick's bungee prusiks are pretty popular.

Bottom line for taking off seconds is practice, try doing it with some extra weight. Focus on technique -- 'Go slow to go fast'.

Besides being really strong and light, the fast guys are fast because they have perfect technique and don't make mistakes.

Your arms work hard and tire fast but the speed is in your abdominal muscles and your ability to cover the distance in as few locks as possible.

Taking it slow will help develop good muscle memory, after you get that you can go fast. For the endurance do a pull-up lock it off at the top and bring your knees to your elbows hold for a second then drop them (your legs) slowly, then pull-up lock off and touch your left knee to you right elbow hold... and release slowly.. now pull-up, lock off, and touch the right knee to the left elbow hold.. and release. remember to lower the legs first then relax the arms

any questions?

you can do many variations of this exercise to enhance you core performance.
If you like I will post a video later this afternoon.

Nick, any chance you could post a picture of your set up. Ironic to see this post, Steve and I were practicing today and were discussing how to avoid it. Bungee idea came up but I like to see how it is set up. I noticed it was more of a promblem with Steve, the slack and biner turning sideways. Defiently throws off your momentum when you don't get that full throw of the prussik.

I;ve seen alot of footlocking in my day . I'm gonna change subject here for a second . This golfer holds the record at this local country club . a 62 I think . A Man said that was before there was trees . The Golfer said when you shoot a 62 , trees have nothing to do with it . Your knot should not hold up your time , your best time will reflect that . Goodluck !
