A rave. Credit where credit is due; watched many others get free stuff - never to get anything big myself...

Ordered the Dmm Captain and a sweatband - #OHCANADA + #Lukesfloor gave me a rope bag and sling for free (with other stuff) - yay treestuff!

The Dmm Captain came with no instructions, booklet or anything - am I just to go on Dmm's website if I want further info?

I understand the sling to be a loopie - though I don't know if it is classified for rigging or what it's rated to for different configurations - Can anyone help me with any info on it? - Thanks

On a separate note - I think this is the coolest treestuff sticker I've seen yet;

Thanks guys - I now know what the sling will be capable of.

I guess I'll have to just look up info on Dmm's website for further info on the Captain Hook.

Thanks!

Thanks Tuebor - I know - I'm on that thread!

I was just maybe expecting some sort of instructional/safety booklet to go along with it (like the kind you get with every carabiner that you buy) - that's all.

Ok, I understand. Mine came with this:

Thanks Tuebor - that is great! I'll save these pics if I can. I'll also go to Dmm's website to see what info they can offer. For some reason - I received no instructional booklet with my order.

Edit: Dmm's Website has PDF Captain User Instructions and Info Sheet.

The gist is: it's not PPE, 18 kN MBS, don't use it as a sole anchor, have the attached line redirected above the anchor point on a limb that is angled upward or, if it's horizontal, has a stub, and the locking nut is a one-time use.

Have you had yours since Feb? - Did you buy the 'Kit'? - How has it all been for you?

- I'm yet to figure out how you adjust the nose weight (yet to unscrew the nose end).

I did get the kit last month but I've hardly climbed at all since then, so I haven't tried it in the tree. Haven't looked into adjusting the nose weight either. I do know it weighs about 14.5 oz. For some reason I thought you could replace the nose weight with a heavier one, but I don't see one available as an option.

I played with it on the ground a little bit. It was easier than I expected to get it unhooked and retrieve. As light as it is, I think it would be hard to throw it far or to chuck it through interfering twigs, especially if it's on a heavier rope.
