it does have pinnate leaves but it's none of the above, some good guesses though.

It looks like some of the wood on the ground has a darker colored heart wood so it couldn't be Ash. Unless that wood came from a different tree.

I don't think is an Ash. Ash is opposite budded. I can jump on the Hickory bandwagon though.

correct, Ash it is (European Ash), that tree and the Ash tree immediately to it's left in the pic were both removed, both were around 150/175 years old. I have more pics of the job if anyone is interested in seeing the trees close up. The 2 trees either side of the two Ash are Silver Birch (European), Betula pendula.
