Fine.

Sorbus x thuringiaca
Oak-Leaved Mountain-Ash.

I say Macrocarpa got it - He got as far as the genus as well as a parent.

That's funny, I have a client with the same tree. It took me a while to ID it (theirs), but it doesn't look like your pic at all, which is why I didn't guess it. My client's tree seems to have much more of a tendency for forked crotches and included bark, more like S. aucuparia. The compound/simple leaves are pretty interesting, a real ID geek's conversation piece LOL. Apparently this hybrid is naturally occurring in Europe, which I also found pretty cool. Just busting cubes with the yawn comment. Sorry.

Well I could be wrong. It's leafless now and I'm going on memory - the tree is two streets over from my place. Let's say you and Macrocarpa were right.

Here's a closer up:

the interesting pine i like in the appalachians on rocky tops is Table Moutain Pine.

those needles seem a bit long, but maybe just because the rest of the tree is so so.

So, if you thought it was cool enough to dig up, I say Table Mountain Pine, because of the interesting cones it will have.

I wasn't saying I thought you were wrong, just that the laterals look different from the one specimen I have seen. The closer up looks like it does have the included bark tendency, so I think MC was right, actually.

As to MC's pine, I don't have an informed guess right now. Sounds like X may have it.

didn't have time to find a good one.

here, name the tree this kitten is in.

for a bonus, what is the genetics of this kitten?

hint on the kitten, this one absolutely loves climbing trees.

Macro got the Redbud. It's a forest pansy variety, but u would never know with the fall foliage. So that's close enough.

and DeWelch got the CAT!

Wow!

Mother of this kitten is a true Bengal Cat. The father is a domestic. Bengal is a relatively new hybrid breed of cat, formed by the cross of a domestic feline (4 generations) and an Asian Leopard Cat ("ALC") and retain the wild ALC spotted markings.

ALC is a true wild jungle cat in Asia I believe.

So, this kitten is one domestic from a true Bengal. But luckily kept the spots!

It's my 4 yr old daughters cat and boy does it have energy and like to climb trees! perfect. And it was free, didn't cost the usual $800 to $1000 for a bengal.

i thought for sure there would have been some wise cracks about me asking what kind of kitten.

someone should have said, "what, is this Trees and Kittens from a Distance now?"

I would have.
