Good question...you tell me the best way to distigush the two and I'll try to figure it out. I'm guessing occidentalis because of the rough bark. I've noticed some Celtis with smooth, kinda beech looking bark with rough,corky patches. Are those sugarberry's?

No, they are very similar. Bark and form are totally different, though. I couldn't see much in your pic, though. I was way off!
