treeMOTION

There have been a few references on different Buzz threads about the new 'Euro harness' shown at ITCC Minneapolis. To avoid confusion, I just want to identify it as 'treeMOTION'. It is a work positioning harness developed by Treemagineers and was used by Mark Bridge and Bernd Strasser in Minneapolis.

Throughout ITCC and the Trade Fair folk were trying the harness and our new pulley/rigging plate combination (called Hitch Climber) on the Sherrill stand.

Rather than 'Rant and Rave' about our own products, I'll leave any comments to those that have now had (short) experience of the goods!

Chris

Treemagineers - all for the trees and none for a fall!

I spent some time in the harness. It is very revolutionary and opens a whole new way of thinking about a work postion harness.

If only I could convince ya to make it fit me!

I didnt get to sit in it due to my size, but the saddle looked to be mighty mighty comfy, the way the whole front connections flowed together allowing unrestricted rolling.

Brandon, as I understand it, no pictures are going to be released right now. The price will be "Under $400USD" and its a Sherrill exclusive.

At first I was a bit curious as to the price, but with some rather extensive time under Chris's feet listening and talking with him it was clear the ammount of passion and effort the Treemagineers have invested into the saddle.

I have said for a while that i wished the ness and butterfly would get together and make a baby. Comfort while allowing a great ROM, IMO the Tree Motion affords that by using NEW ideas, not copied from anyone else. Some of the hardware is terribly expensive to produce, and just like tree guys, they deserve a profit as well.

My biggest complaint was that it doesnt fit me! (Chris, PM me if you think it just needed a longer bridge or whatknot :) ).

The bridge prevented me from getting the saddle across my backside (no suspenders needed) into the fitted position. The bridge had the ends of the rope doubled over so we couldnt pull it out and try it without the bridge installed. I figure it might fit with a different bridge, the belt area seemed like it should fit, I am assuming my legs will. If it will fit I will be pre orderin one no doubt!

Should be out in time for TCI Expo in November.

I just wanted to say that Chris did a great job explaining everything up at ISA, like everyone you walk by and go look a new toy. I had a chance to try it out there on the ground but not much time otherwise and it was a night and day diffrence from what I noticed to any other harness I've used, I was very impressed and ordered one that day even with out a price on it yet, hopefully i get it around november.
Just like to say to all who were invovled in the design and testing that you guys do a heck of a job.

Chris,

I tried Mark's harness on at ther Stihl booth. I liked the feel. I need some time to stand on a spar and fly through a tree to really tell. But, my initial feeling was that it was nice and light, easy to adjust and comfy when sitting in it. The difference between the fit of TM and BFly is that the TM fits below the hips. It would take a little time to train myself to feel at home in your harness, but I'm willing to give it a shot! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for working on improving products for the industry. I love new gear!

Thanks for the positive feedback chaps!

Lumberjack, got the PM? I believe you are probably on the upper size border of the standard harness. Lengthening the bridge may or may not have worked, but we should have tried it....I realised that we could have removed the bridges from either Mark or Beddes harnesses and put a longer bridge in.....how silly am I that I didn't think about it!?!

We guesstimate that it will fit 90+% of Euro climbers, but that % may be a little less in North America!! You guys obviously drank plenty of milk and ate your greens during those formative years!!

In time there will be a larger variant....it's a fairly simple process to make that larger version, but will follow the feedback from the first production batches. Sorry!

First US batch will arrive with Sherrill in time for TCI early November, price not above $400.

Chris

Yes Chris I got the pm.. for sake of comfort or whatknot I will wait on the larger version. Looking forward to it! I do like my milk and red meat, not so big on the greens though!

It fit's below the hips? What keeps it from falling down?

[/ QUOTE ]

At the show Chris had to have me move it down twice from where I thought it should be. Now, every time I put on the B'fly, I want to sling it lower to get closer to my center of gravity.

What keeps it from falling off? My butt, I guess, and the leg straps come in to play. There's a pict of me upside down on here and I recall no shifting in the saddle. There is a much smaller, but present, balance point in a work position and then I didn't have to hike up on the saddle to move from there forward or lay back. Some saddles behave like you are sitting in a bucket.

Its amazing what sticks in my mind having only a few minutes with it.

To quote a lady friend of mine..."You tree climbers ain't got no butts!"

The form of the saddle and the way it's loaded will keep it positioned.

Tom,
I knew I'd be getting some flack about that, but didn't suspect it be from you. Then again, we're no examples of carrying Dunlap's disease, lacking that butt in front, either.
Thanks for clarifying that its the way the harness loaded.

Et al,

With the new laws being proposed in my area about baggy pants slung low I wonder if this will become an illegal harness position.

Loads of great info on new TREEMOTION harness and other exciting associated innovative products at www.treeworker.co.uk from the gadget guru and all round king of mellow Noddy le Knot!!!

He's a swinger alright, but not in that way!!!!

haha king of mellow, aint that the truth.
bummer though, says on his website the tree motion isnt available till december, i was thinking about getting it friday, that or paolos treeflex. i like the look of the hitch climber too, think i'll be getting one at the show!

Re: treeMOTION *DELETED*

Have been using my treemotion harness for about 2months and is is realy nice, Its is light and the leg straps sit in a realy good position.
I have had a problem trying to fit my elastic suspender to the Harness which is my only negative thought about this harness.
The hitch climber is one of the best devices i have ever used i would recommend it to any one.
