Treemotion light saddle?

Hey guys, I was just curious if anyone has tried the Treemotion light saddle and what were your thoughts. I'm in the market to upgrade my saddle and I'd really like to get the TM, my concerns are will the light version hold up to daily production climbing? I spoke to a couple of local guys and I was told that it is really a rec saddle and wouldn't recommend it for a work saddle. However Luke at treestuff said that it would hold up just fine, any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was a bit confused when I saw the two versions listed, they both look the same, just the back padding seems different if you ask me.

Pretty sure the center ring in the back is now rated for life support on the new version.

One has quick release buckles the other does not.Different back pad and maybe the side rings are different.

I see the buckle difference now. It finally makes sense.

Don't quote me on it but I believe the material used for the actual saddle is different. Not the webbing but the material that the webbing goes through. I'm intrigued as a rec saddle but no one seems to know much about them.

I'll probably wait for black Friday and pick up another regular TM.

The treeMOTION S. Light is a professional harness and holds up to production work. Check Teufelberger's website for the particulars.

The S. Light is less expensive than the standard. Both are comfortable and suited to production tree work. However, if price is not an issue, I recommend the standard version for ease of donning and doffing. The S. Light uses a thinner material for the back and leg loops. It is the same material, just thinner. Naturally, where there is less material, there is less resistance to wear. However, the S. Light is plenty robust for our needs. The textiles, sewing, side and front dees, tool cutouts, are the same on both models.

The "New" Standard treeMOTION:
-tested to 120 kg
-PPE rear attachment
-comfort back pad

treeMOTION S. Light:
-tested to 120 kg
-"equipment only" rear attachment
-regular back pad
-thinner base material
-different adjustment buckles

Hope that helps!

When you hold both pieces up side by side you can see the difference. The leather on the S Light is not as thick, what I mean by that is the full version of the tree motion has 2 layers of the leather, where the S Light only has 1. (think of single ply vs 2 ply)

The S light does not have buckles, the straps need to be adjusted every time you put on and take off the harness. (snaps are nice and fast) the S light does NOT have a rated attachment point in the back (everything green on the TreeMotion is rated for life support, green go, red dead)

S light has the original back padding, the new 2013 TreeMotion has the $60 add on padding.

Overall the biggest differences are the snaps, and the leather thickness.
