treeman xmas

How many times did you have to drop the ball to get the balance right?? I just ordered an adjuster that can be used at the bottom so should really speed up the process.

Dave have you ever tried the chains?? remember you don't take the chains off the hook so weight is a non issue. If I knew how to post pics here I would show you the quickest way I know of picking wood completely straight.:bananahappy: ( Woody my son wanted a smiley):asadito:(so did Whylie) (My dad sed that the banana was a weener)

I used chains for many years before slings. I'd still tolerate them now if that's all was at hand....but far from first choice nowdays. I get the impression you really love your job Stihlmad....good for you mate.

pctree I did not adjust that top once, I did it all by feeling where the right place was for each chain.
this was the first job I was shown an adjuster and allowed to use them so will be purchasing my own set . asked the crane operator where to get some at the end of the job.
would like to see these pics if you can swing it,.

thank you very much Reg, ever since I started to watch vids like that beech double neg rig or what people like x-man were doing , I have been inspired and enjoy my work more. also helped to work with other climbers from around the world who brought me new ideas and different takes on how things can be done. appreciate the nod from a well seasoned operator.
my dad was from yorkshire, listening to you makes me smile, brings back good memories, he was a dour man.:ROFLMAO:

I like not removing the choker Paul but I am quite often around high voltage primaries and just another worry in my opinion. I just bought a number of double thick canvas 10k choke capacity chokers and view them as virtually indestructable...for now. I am going to try them accompanied with clips so as not to have to remove. What is the choke hardware on chains?

Not seen much posting of you and your new crane exploits...how about it? :-)
