Tree Worker Injured When Bucket Falls Off Boom

I posted this on the run earlier and didn't ad comments but this touched closed to home for me.I have 2 buckets for my Hi-Ranger,a single man side hung 24"x24" bucket and the huge 2 man wrap around basket.Mostly the side hung basket is on for tree work.I had a bucket rental last fall for painting and swapped to the 2 man basket.I pulled the bucket liner out and something didn't look right. The bucket was de-laminating at the mounting point!!I pull the liner fairly regular but hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary until that day.Needless to say that bucket was retired then and there!!!
Tough to say what failed on this guys rig without seeing it but I know we now have one more regular inspection point on our rig after last fall.

Sad to hear.

Wear a lanyard attached to the BOOM.

[/ QUOTE ] Good point Master Blaster!!Wonder if he was wearing a belt at all!I think we switched ours from bucket attachment to boom attachment back around '91 or so...I think all buckets from the late '80's came with boom attacments but not 100% sure on that...
