Tree Work magazines?

Found it. It's the UK. You guys that have subscriptions; how much delayed are they? Did they notify you of problems? are they still going to deliver 4 a year?
Thanks.

I'm asking because I'm looking for the right magazine to print an article I wrote and this one seems like it was the type of magazine for this article.

Based on the listing of editorial staff it's a combined US/UK effort. Lots of ads from european vendors. Quite interesting really. The articles are well written and up to date with current practices.

I did an article titled : Friction, Where Should it Be in our Rope Rigging Systems.
It was an exhausting amount of work to write it and I think very important to bring the masses up to speed on "new" thinking.
I didn't know of anyone else but me to write it. I go into many tools, as much as I could so that it isn't an X-Rigging Ring article.
But since I'm part of Xtreme Arborist Supply and I do of course talk about the rings and the THT; it could be viewed like self-promotional to some magazines.
Arb Climber ran an article from Kevin B. on the rope wrench; which is the best person to speak about it. So I'm thinking they will run mine.
I think it is very good and I want to share it.
IF no magazine, I'll ask March Chisholm if I can post in here in the "expert speaker article" place.

Or maybe I'll do both.

I'd be interested to check it out. I wouldn't worry about the self promotion part. X Riggings Rings have quickly made themselves an invaluable part of many Arborist's rigging systems and just as Kevin has the most Wrench experience, I'd say you likely have the most ring experience. I may not agree with everything you have to say, but I do have a lot of respect for you as an Arborist and innovator.

I'll post it David. It won't go with the others though because the new layout will have it on the home page.

thank you Mark, that's pretty cool for you to say that, even before you read it. Thanks for having confidence in me.
I would like treebuzz to have it. I'll try to write you email and use google drive to share it with you this week.
Post it only if you think it's good information.

No pressure man. But now you have an expectant audience of hungry tree guys ;-)

Good news for the Arb Climber subscribers! :) I just heard back from them. They responded in minutes after I asked if everything was okay. Issue 6 is complete!!!!

"office flooded in January thru feb and then hacked and hijacked twice since. Lost a ton of stuff so it 's been a long road back but spread the word that issue 6 is done (for the second time!) and the PDF version will be out at the weekend, hardcopy to follow as soon as we get a new print slot. ........ Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers " I shared that because the person said to spread the word and it sheds some light on the real problems they had. I myself was assuming other problems originally.

They are interested in my article, (" This looks right up our street " ) but Mark, it might not be the right thing to do to ever publish something in TWO places. Because if they put all that effort into publishing it (to attract readers)...... and it is "published" here on TreeBuzz, my article won't attract as many readers for them. They aren't going to put any restrictions on me, but I try to see things through other's eyes and do the right thing if I think of it.

But dang it, I did offer it and think I would send it to you for TreeBuzz. I put the offer out to both of you and both of you "accepted".

That was a mistake. I am sorry.:(
Embarrassing actually. I would rather delete my past post where I said I'd send it to you. But you know how I don't like deleted posts, because that is like lyingo_O.
I will work on another article for TreeBuzz to make up for this.:(

How'd about getting it published in the arb mag, then wait for the following issue to come out before giving it to the buzzz... Or just give it to us now!

Are there even that many subscribers to the magazine? Seems like a large audience here

Good point Joe. Probably a larger audience here. I guess I have a soft spot for the people that are a small business and are trying to do things differently then the giants.
I am grateful for the buzz and will always try to support it and keep it an interesting place. It is like my home and I've been away from it too much this past year and want to contribute back again.
I'll keep thinking on the best solution on what to do I guess. I did put it together with the intentions of a magazine article.
With the really nice high resolution photos included in the article, it would be nice if it was in a magazine.
I'm dying to show the photos to you all .
One REALLY should be on the cover of something.

Thanks Mark and I deserved the little punch in the ribs too.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll probably have this worked out by the end of this week.
Nothing like sorting this out in public o_O.

That soft spot is understandable and I agree with it. It's nice to see the magazine getting some support, seems like they are trying hard. And nice to see you posting so often on here as well!

X,

Publishing two places is not unheard of. Called simultaneous publication, the editor of the magazine can give permission if he/she is paying for the article. If no money is exchanged then you as author just have to let the editor know you want to publish in two places, he/she can either agree or say no thank you.

In this case, I do not see it being a problem, especially as the magazine is international. Up to the editor though, but seems like a win/win if you provide a link in the tree buzz article to the magazine and vice versa.

Tony

Good to hear Arb Climber is back on track. They're a really good publication. I'm excited to see the article David. Thanks for putting the effort in.
