Tree Work magazines?

RopeS is right; mags are here to stay; they just morph with the times. ArborAge in oz is going from 2000 words/article to 1200, with more pics. Arborist News is calling for/allowing more pics, from 2-3 per to 5-6. But those detective stories are hard to cut short.

Good to see the Articles here getting added to; I was glad to get one in some years back, but the list could grow... http://www.treebuzz.com/pdf/TCI_Handout_2007.pdf

I hope that we don't go purely digital. Studies are in their early stages but they are finding that comprehension goes way, way down when reading on a screen. Not sure why yet but as always it's likely a combination of factors. I know if I'm reading anything of length it's hard to sta focused reading from a screen. Plus, I'm a bibliophile. I love the feel and smell of paper.

Just have to use your words carefully Guy;)

No more diarrhea of the keyboard!

Thanks Tony what a nice anal-ogy!

So I want my spit to fall freely it's gotta be in a novella, huh? :frenetico:

Too bad; December's over 2000 words, too. It's hard to leave stuff out when you're reporting on tree work; so many variables! :bailando: If you want to see a DD be 1200 words then you can send em in yourself. (wink--observing the 2-smiley-per-post rule)

Thanks. I'm in Ontario and u never just see one of these just at any old store so this is great.

ARB Climber Issue 6 now available. Here's what Ade had to say

"Hello Folks
Just to show proof of life, below is a link to the PDF version of ARB CLIMBER magazine #6. You get this free with your hardcopy subscription and we usually send it out just after the printed version so that you don't ruin the surprise but given the length of time it's taken to get back up together we thought we'd leave it up to you whether you check out this pdf version or wait for the printed copy.
Sorry for the protracted delay but following last year's computer hassles and flooding this Jan/Feb we managed to have an even worse year in 2014 with two major hacks/hijacks losing us hardware, files and data and requiring us to rewrite and recompile two issues almost in their entirety. We're back on the horse now and trying to 'future-proof' our rubbish infrastructure so that we will be a streamlined paragon of efficiency for 2015.... or something similar.
During our upgrade and restructuring our third title Park Ranger is going to become International SAR in January and we're also resurrecting our Emag which most of you won't be familiar with as we ditched it when we introduced ArbClimber through lack of time. It was a Newsletter that became far too big and took longer to produce than an actual magazine. So it will now revert to a smaller pdf 'informative' covering all three of our titles to keep you up to date on issues, what's in each mag, stuff we didn't have room for and background to articles and contributors plus announcements, not to mention a place for making excuses for being late. As a subscriber you will automatically receive the Emag. "

I've already seen the pdf of issue 6, and it's great. You guys should subscribe.

Guy,
Here is how I have adopted. Shorten the article to meet editorial demands, then link in the article to my blog/website.

I now look at the trade magazine articles as previews to get readers to a different venue where I can expand and wax poetic till my heart's content;)
