Tree shelters

I have heard that tree shelters are good for the tree health and survival. Is it true that tubes trees shelters can be used to enhance the growth of trees?

Sun damage is invisible until it's too late. Covering newly exposed trunks is generally a very good idea.

How bad are the deer? In certain areas, the giant rats will make sure you have no trees if they aren't protected...so, yeah, they help survival quite a bit!
