Tree service fined $6,500 by OSHA for fatal accide

wow you think it would be reported when you call the cops. 5k for the training that might of saved the guy, and 1.5K for lack of notification? Do the fines seem skewed to you?

You're not suggesting it was a white guy who fell into the kettle of molten metal? Wow, they must have realy messed up.

Mahk,

That is all that I have, and that came from the OSHA newsletter.

With a little digging, we could probably find the details.

I'm just curious if that accident is in addition to the ones that have been posted here. A week or two ago I searched to find the number and type of chipper accidents that have posted on TreeBuzz over the last two or three years. There were, if I remember, five deaths in which the victim was pulled through the chipper. That's a lot.

Could you try to get some more information?

Thanks!

I believe that either myself, or KFTREE on AS posted something about this particular accident last year or the year before?

Not sure if I posted on here or not, but about a year or two ago a guy got run over while flagging for a tree company up around Poughkeepsie. The driver of the truck who struck and killed the man got away with no criminal charges being filed.
