Tree Planters from Thailand

Location
Minnesota
While in Thailand I saw some very unique tree planters. Many are very intricate and looked like they took some time to make.

I hope that you like the pictures, and maybe it will give someone inspiration or ideas.

I found this first planter pretty intersting. It is all concrete in the form of a chair. I dont have much experience with concrete, but this looks like it would be hard to form.

This planter is pretty basic, but the tree is beautiful. The rooting area isnt very large, but the tree sems to be growing well. And the wires were not in the tree.

These planters were the coolest looking. All ceramic tiles. These trees were not in very good health, it is hard to see in this picture. To improve the tree health I think that filling in with Structured Soil under the seating area may help tree health.

This last one was kinda sad. It is about 1 ft by 1 ft, and absolutly no rooting area. As you can see most of the trees are dead or dying.

As apart of my internship in Thailand I was to give recomendations on how to improve some things. One of my recomendations was to replace these planters with larger ones.

on the last picture, it's a shame they have to bash up that concrete to get trees growing in there, but no way around it.

the tile is pretty, but how do the roots get water and air?

in china to reinvigorate trees they radial trench then add dead branches, sand and chickenspit. that's where we in the usa got the idea from.

is there a porous rock over there to make structural soil out of?

Chikenspit? I wonder how they collect the chikenspit.

The trees with the tiles were in bad shape, becaues they didnt get enough air and water.

I am not sure if they have porus rock to make sturctural soil. But knowing that Thailand isnt an extremely rich country, they probably wouldnt use structural soils.
