tree motion vs ergovation

anyone who has used both id like to know which u think is better the treemotion seems alot lighter than my buck. classic which i love but i need something with more attachment point and with a rope bridge any help would be appreciated

Both are killer saddles both can be used for SRT the biggest difference is weight. The treemotion is lighter and the ergovation has a lot more padding for back and abdominal support.

I own an Ergo. Before the purchase I went to my local supply house and tried both for about an hour..IMO the tree motion is not as heavy duty. although the ergo weighs a little more it has the versatility to change each part of the saddle as it wears, whereas the TM does not and according to the TM manual it is only good for about 6 months of heavy use climbing..I own a couple of other saddles for other reasons such as a bosun seat, but my days are in the Ergo...IMO

I have owned an ergo for a year now, and the weight is not an issue. Its a more working type saddle where, IMO the treemotion isnt as strong or built as well. In my ergo I can have a Stihl 660 hanging off my hip and it doesnt even feel like its their. The ergo distributes weight really well. Also on the ergo, the 2 rigging plates the bridge goes into are wayyy more versatile than the treemotion. This is just my opinion though. Either way you go, you will be happy. They are the 2 top saddles on the market

Ive had my motion 4 years and its still going strong. Climbed in every day. Ive replaced some of the webbing but thats all. Brilliant harness'

Coming from a man who's owned and compared all saddles.

To me. Treemotion is king and has beat ever other saddle hands down.

In a few days my tree Austria 3.1 arrives, I already know the results

I agree with you Family. I have owned almost every saddle and there are some really good saddles out there but TM is the top dog. All those Ergo lovers check out treebay I have one for sale, free shipping!

Same, and first time ever used the same harness twice.
Always went to something else, but perfect is perfect.

What I love about the ergovation is the multiple options for the saddle. The ergovation is like 5 saddles in one but it lacks it's own identity. I love the leg pads option, the fall arrest options, bridge options are awesome but where it lacks is sturdiness. The Velcro is just a terrible idea, especially with the conditions that we work in and it adds a ton of bulkiness.

Honestly, great idea but I can't help but feel like it was rushed into fruition from drawing board to production purely because the treemotion was running the table. You don't come up with such a great idea like a completely versatile saddle then say "yea Velcro would be an amazing idea"

I'll be interested to see the ergovation 2.0

I have been waiting for this very thread. I am ready to buy one of these saddles... I need to replace my worn out Glide and like Buckingham products. I am leaning towards the TM after so many of this family tree, etc. opinions.
I spend everyday going up and down big Firs and would like some padding for my sore back. I ain't 22 years old anymore!
So, anyway - I heard a rumor that B'ham has got something (ergo 2?) coming for 2011. The guys at wesspur suggested I wait till new year to buy a new harness...
Tempted to buy that guy's used ergo but kinda like that stuff new.

It is called the Ergo 'Lite.' Ed was sporting it at Plymouth in October. It's way lighter than the original Ergo, revised based on user feedback, I would imagine.

You really can't go wrong with either, even the original ergo is a great saddle IMO, especially now that the rigid legstraps are available. Lots of opinions, to each their own.

Thanks, Tom. I am glad to hear your post. I think I will wait untill after x-mas (spending on kids!) and go with a Buckingham. The accountant gets pist if I buy myself toys before the end of year (taking a loss for 2010).
I like the ergo because I would like the 'glide' style bridge. I will look into the leg straps too. I live 5 blocks away from Wesspur so it is easy to check out new gear. I dad was born in Binghampton, NY so I feel a little family connection to Buckingham, you know? god bless u$a...
