Tree Motion Saddle

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

I just got off the phone with Sherrill and the date for release on the new sadddle has been moved back AGAIN. Now they are saying March. Anybody know WHY?

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

I know I just got back from Vermeer myself. I cannot believe this. They said the problem is because it is coming from Germany but that wouldn't explain such a long delay. There must be a problem with the production for it to be pushed back so much.

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

Well guys, be prepared to pay more. The dollar was 1.79 to the pound when the treemotion was first mooted. it's now at $1.98 and set to rise further.

I believe its even worse against the euro.

I dont think the price is excessive if you do a lot of climbing. Its like good boots. worth anything to keep your feet comfy.

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

Saw on TW that if you don't order by the 14th you will have to pay more. What's up with that?

See above comments on the dollar being weak.

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

Hi Climber 020

The reason for the price change is that I recently recieved a revised price from the manufacturers. Unfortunately the revision was an increase that made the price of £200 not possible. I therefore chose to fix the advertised price until 14th January in order to offer a discount to those that order early. The cost will then be fixed at £220 for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully this answers your quiry but please do contact me to clarify if necessary.
Thanks
Nod

Re: Lazarus2 and Chris Cowell?

I just got back from two weeks in the UK. When I got pounds the conversion was $2/pound. There weren't many things that I could compare prices on to see what the purchasing power really was. The one thing that I could compare prices on was the Petzl Ecrin helmet. At just about any shop in the US the Ecrin can be bought for about $85 or so. I never found it cheaper than 50 pounds or $100. Not a great deal for me...buy all I was doing was looking for a comparison.

Yeah, we all know its expensive, but i just want to know what its like in the tree. if it takes the pressure off the hips like they say it does, then i guess i will be spendin the big bucks. has any slender framed climbers used it yet?

MB, the price does seem high, but if you are comparing a Porsche to a Ford station wagon.....?

Ha ha that's funny Chris. A Ford station wagon should be the more expensive one. You can gear it up with all your equipment saws, ropes, GRCS, blocks, falteimers, lunch boxes and four workers, you even can park a ladder on the roof if you want to, hook a chipper onto it and still take speed bumps at 60 mph

it's probably the best comparison with the Treemotion so far.

Was the reason I bought it. I am a whole 135 lbs. so I will let you know how it goes. I had hip problems with other saddles and it had gotten to the point that even putting the saddle on hurt like hell.

And as far as the dorsal attachment, according to Sherrill's catalog no. But they have been wrong before, but you would figure for over 100 bucks they would.

Word on the street is that all the saddles are sitting in a warehouse somewhere in the U.S. and are not allowed to be sold because they didn't come with instructions. Apparently you dont need to sell the stuff in Germany with instructions but you do here. Just what I heard....

trees4life, be careful what you believe! To sell PPE in the EU, you must produce User Instructions in the language of each country that you sell to (Polish, Swedish, Spanish, Greek, English, German etc. and yes, even French).

Given that UK harnesses have been delivered, and that we almost share the same language across the Atlantic, I see no reason why the User Instruction would not have been included.

The 'suspenders' on treeMOTION have no fall arrest function. treeMOTION is a work positioning harness. If you want a dorsal attchment for fall arrest, I suggest you try the new Petzl Navaho BOD Fast where the chest ascender has been 'beefed up' to form part of the EN361 fall arrest system. I have one, and it's a fine harness for ascent and fall arrest, but don't try to work position in it if you want comfort and value your nuts.

Chris
