While I wait I will tell you about this:

I looked at a pretty big Sycamore today with a huge cavity at the base. It was definately a hazzard. I put 2 grand to take it all away and leave a golf course behind.

Within 2 minutes talking to the lady I knew all the others who had put in a bid and what they bid. I was 400.00 more than the lowest. I told the lady that with my coupon and if she wanted to be frugal we could skip the topsoil and grass seed.That would bring my price down to be competitve. I would bring the soil and seed for free before I leave a mess like that in someone's yard for others to see, take pictures of and post them on this site and call me a hack.

By the afternoon everybody who had bid on it called me to see what I bid, because they know I am competive, do great work, and am a good person. Funny, even if Kimberton Tree doesn't get the job I will probably be the guy who climbs it.

I think it intresting, but I don't know.

If you don't want to answer that one how about; How would you feel if the guy who sheared those yews only got paid 13.00 an hour. It wasn't me but it was done by a CA who was not the company owner.

That's the kind of stuff I want to bring up. I don't know if you work for yourself or what but it sure made me think when I saw that.

Give it a whack and see what happens. Or are you going to solidify my GROWING belief that you all think that you are God and feel that the only people who can do this work is people like you. Besides I thought it would be fun to start this thread and I still do. As long as I am happy I am happy.

I mean, my God, Someone takes a picture of a few guys working on a tree and the next thing is you start calling them hacks because there are no hardhats and the guy was wearing spikes or something. I think it was done because the guy who posted it was mad he didn't get that job.

When I left Treeco I went to Pa and worked on alot of crews. Everybody made fun of my hardhat. ISA certified Co it was too. I did not take it off until years later when I felt more comfortable without it. I know if I am going to need a hardhat on a job and have a good variety in my trucks to chose from. I did not use them today when I pruned a Jap Maple with my handsaw and my Felco's. I did use them the other day when I was on a roof cuuting down a Box Elder that had fallen over.

I know for a fact that a lot of company owners want you to wear them because then they can jack there prices. They say" See? it is real dangerous I need more money" and run around under the trees I am cutting.

I just wanted to see if you all were anything like the others I have seen. Well?

You must pay your guys to little,I take it. Why don't you guys stop paying so much for flashy gear and give the guys a bonus? Can't afford it? I know you can, I know the business. The only thing you get from working for guys like you is tired and broke, unless you are a overpaid tree climber. Think they can live on what you pay? You know you can't. This ain't selling ice cream cones, where's the hazzard pay? Going for that cheap Mexican labor because your kids are to good to work like that?

It must be a bad feeling when someone who worked for you and you taught him to climb and he quits to be your competition. You think your employess like you? I hear what they say and they don't. I know you don't care about the people who bust their backs for your profit. You only do what you have to say they come back in the morning. You want them to run and gun all day long and get mad if they stop to catch their breathe.

That's how most of the guys around here have started. They hate their bosses and quit. I will name them all if you want. Thing is their companies are no better than the ones they left.

I can't beleive I heard one of you compare yourselves to a medical doctor. My point is proven. How dare you hold yourselves that high. You are nothing but blue collar workers(like me). All you owners are conivvers, I know what you say to sell your jobs and I know how you treat your employees. My name is Benjamin L Saville and this is Kimberton Tree and there is a difference. I am a one man tree crew. It is nothing but profit for me, no matter how low I go. I am so godamn good I have to smoke 6 big fat joints to slow down. You wish you had my talent under your thumb, but I am nobodies fool. You are all so prentetious with your one liners it only helps my position.

So what about CA's try Automotive Society of Engineers Certified Master Automobile Technician. I took me 7 years to get that and I am lazy and it was my second job. I still call myself a mechanic.

Now you can kick me out.

Their litney mentions knowing no diploma holders from the school of hard knocks. My conclusion is that their sphere of influence or circle of professionals is rather miniscule.

I've bumped into a few diploma people who were experience-impaired, but I've met far more who have had extensive in-the-field experience.

It's not that they are not out there, its just whether you've met them or not.

thats about the truth of it right there.
Ive known plenty of hard-knockers who switched over to SRT right away. Ive known people with a diploma who applied SRT to other facets of life, like climbing masts on heavy steam fishing boats in Alska, and Ireland.

One of the things I think Benjamin is overlooking is the fact that 1. master, or not, he could be utilising the SRT more dramatically in take down scenarios. 2. I think a lot of his resentment towards his previous employers stems from 1099 squabbles and an under-apprecitaed sense of petiole-responsibility. I mean, we all have to make money right? But nobody wants to see trees get hurt needlessly.
Also, enough with the name-calling.

Climb on, climb high, and climb safe!!!
