I hope I'm not going to be the one who poops in the punch bowl, but I would say attend the TCC, but don't compete...Yet. If you are competing you will not observe as much as you would being a spectator.
I'm only concluding this from your own words above, I think you would be better off watching every step everyone makes. Look at the gear and how people use it. You will see maneuvers you have never seen before. You will see individual techniques and how efficient these climbers are.
You can always practice for another year and grow even more as a climber.
