How many hours of climbing and ground work in 80° weather is reasonable for a 36 yo person in your opinion? I'm thinking I can do no more than 32. How many hours are you laboring per week, typically? I've been stagnant for 2-3 months and just booked up a month of full weeks, not sure what I was thinking but I am curious to see how much weight I will lose or if I'll even survive. I'm thinking that a massage or two and a lot of watermelon will help me get through. What kind of things do you do to nourish and replenish your body if you are doing lots of climbing? Does anyone even climb anymore?

That's ~27 Celsius for the rest of the world reading this. Hot, but not swamp ass hot. I think 32 hours is reasonable. Just pace yourself and take breaks where needed.

For me, not eating has been helping. I make a simple shake in the morning, water and a scoop of protein powder, which I sip at until around 11am. Then it's just water until supper time. I started finding food making me sluggish in the heat, so I tried this new approach and it seems to be working.

For reference I'm 37 and solo. I did get myself a bucket truck this year to help take some of the load off, but I still climb regularly. The only times I really feel it are big hedge days. No matter how in shape your are swinging a hedger around while balancing atop a 15ft ladder is never good on the body.

Good call on the smoothies, I definitely need to get that going. I agree, food slows me down too. I got in the habit of eating lunch every day these last few months so I need to break that. Trying to stay hydrated without chugging water all day. For one because I don't have a chip truck and not always a good place to piss. Gets annoying... Also though, I think drinking a lot of water can flush me out. I've been getting this spring water and sipping that. Or electrolyte powder. Idk ...

I'm a young 53 and still climbing. Although a majority of my work is riding the ball, which I love.
Have a mix of humid sticky hot and dry heat. Stay hydrated as noted. Matt does the smoothies and protein shakes to stay energized. I myself will have a hard roll with my morning coffee on the way there. Lunchtime I'll eat, but lightly. That's if I eat, but usually do. Can't afford to loose weight.... I'm normally at almost 160 lbs. Currently on the scale at just under 150 lbs.

Go on the easy side for awhile till you get back into the swing of things. Pun intended.

37 yo. I work in the heat, and have had fulltime work up to 100⁰f+ (20% RH) for weeks on end. I just drink coffee, either black, or with milk, until lunch, between 11:15 & 12:30, when I may eat a hearty burger or something, or just a protien+fiber shake and some almonds, walnuts, and raisins- depends on the day and what dinner was like the night before, and what the afternoon has in store. I will probably also lean on some more coffee in the afternoon. I probably drink too much coffee, but it feels like it helps, and doctors say I'm plenty healthy.

LOTS OF SLEEP may have been mentioned. Putting it here just in case. And lots, and lots of water. IF you are sweating a lot, like I do once it passes 67⁰f, then electolytes are important, but I haven't developed any brand loyalty. Anything decent works for me.

Stretch. Before, during, and after. And on days off. I would like to stretch more than I have been, but if I start to feel sore or injured, I double down. Passive, static stretches are all I do.

Dinner as early as possible, and no heavy snacking before bed. I don't get this one as often as I would like, but I sleep better when I do.

Do you have a regular stretching routine or just mix it up random? I've got a bit of a flow, I usually start with a fat man stretch into dead bug then see where it goes from there, bird dog usually etc. I need to get back into stretching though, barely stretched any for the last few months. :(

I add on more sometimes, but I always get the hammies- regular touch-your-toes and cross legged touch-your-toes, quads, calves, and gracilis. I do pigeon pose regularly, especially when the glutes get tight or sore. I do cat-cow, childs pose, and cobra regularly. I stretch the triceps often, and I do three different forearm stretches very often. Roll the wrists and ankles around often. If something gets sore or tight, I look up a stretch for it.
