traverse of the north gully at 'The Chief'Squamish

Re: traverse of the north gully at \'The Chief\'Squamish

That's a pretty fricking sweet video. I wish I had some opportunities in my area for some crazy stuff like that. And some other crazy people to do it with.

Got any extra pictures of your anchors from both sides?

Re: traverse of the north gully at \'The Chief\'Squamish

thanks guys. we're actually planning on setting a swing across further into the gully. there's more trees (stronger anchors).

i dont have any pictures of the anchors jman, mark thought that all that tech side would only interest the gear heads like ourselves. i can tell you tho that there was rock climbing bolts on the high side (30kn rated times two) and slung round some trees. i had to do a little funky rigging on the low side due to the shallow rootedness of the trees on the other side. i triangulated my anchor tree on my primary line back to two independant tree anchors. i loaded it tight with a simple 3 to one system and left two prussicks inline to help with the shock load. it was also backed up through a gri gri 2 if in case of an emergency. the secondary line had its own anchors rigged seperate. the pink velocity you can see trailing behind is also anchored separately through a gri gri and was our safety line to haul back in case anything happened. a very redundant system, very safe.

it's great, finally im in a place where these things are possible and theres crazy enough folk to come along for the ride, and not to mention people giving me free stuff!

Cool vid, Tiger. I checked out yer Canada day vid too...nice to be in a place where you can find 250'ers in your backyard!

Tallest I think I've been up round these parts is 150' or so...not even close! One day.

Though the Skaha Bluffs are a world renowned rock climbing haven, if you ever feel like a road trip.

Looks like a great buzz, and cheap on the dolla's but big on the senses.

i wish i knew where that was or that google wouldn't send me on a 2 hour goose chase looking it up.

I know very little of actual rock climbing, so I wouldn't have any idea how to anchor or have the gear to anchor on rock.

Either way, point me in the direction of the nearest large rock face with another rock face across from it and I'm sure we could cook up some idea of zipping across.
