Training day

Today we had a traning day. We removed this Ash as well as some other felling operations. The Ash is about 28"dbh but very tall for around here maybe 100'. I was training Efrain, he's 20 years old has been with us for about 4 months and had about a year of experience before us. The only obsticles around the ash was the fence and other plants. I told him to lower the tree down. He said no problem then I showed him were to lower it down. The made up lz was around 80' away. So we got all of the gear off of my truck and here is what he did.

Here's his first cut. It took him a while to set everything up. He would set it up and I kept quite. He would see his mistakes and fix them usually having to climb up or out. The top rope is the speed line the haul back is the load line. He rigged the tree into itself then down the line. He picked the gear and did it all himself.

Things were taking a bit long and Efrain was getting tired. So he wanted to notch out the whole top on the other side. I said the fence is only 3' away you break you buy it.

Efrain does not speak a word of English, can not read or write English or Spanish. Last week he took home the Art and Science of Practical Rigging video set. This kid going to be a rock star.
