Todays job

Took down a good size Lime tree today for the local council. The tree officer had identified it as having Ustulina deusta and needed to be removed.

Where's the log truck. All I see is a hay trailor. /forum/images/graemlins/whisker.gif

I love these graemlins...

P.S. just bustin balls /forum/images/graemlins/brows.gif

Funny part about this job is that the Blackjack oak in the back-right was harder to get down than the bigger cottonwood! I am always telling people that I find shorter trees can be way harder to remove than larger ones. No leverage and less room for error.

yeah i heard from him, but that was ages ago now.

i'll take a pic of the truck tomorrow if i remember. its looking quite smart for an ldv. painted up the chassis and had some new ali drop sides put on.
havent got high sides as yet but im not sure i really need them at the moment. all im doing is freelancing for other companies, the trucks just for firewood. as and when i need to chip i'll probably knock myself up some ply sides

I've just spent the weekend re building the chip box on my truck. I got some prices for an aluminium box, but it wasn't just the price that was a problem, not having the truck for up to a week was not possible. Is yours a double or single cab. Mines a single so I had to make some compartments for road signs etc.

mines a single. i dont think im going to bother with tool compartments when i get a chip box sorted. unless you get a whole seperate compartment in front of the tipper they seem to just get in the way.
did you see the brit-tip unit at the apf?? that was pretty neat.

Yeah it looked really cool but I didn't dare ask the price. With a big tall chip box you would be overloaded when full up so there is plenty of scope to add boxes or compartments. I like to have everything with me everyday and theres not much you can fit in the cab. My previouse pics in th eyer riggs thread show the basic setup, I've changed things a bit since and wil post some pics when its done. Works starting to get real busy now so it might take a year or so!!!
