Today....

I generally won't do hedges (luckily we don't have many in my area) but this was basically a neighbor and I've been telling him for years he needs to shorten it so it is easier to maintain. Reducing it by about 1/3 using the top of the chip truck as a work platform, and going forward it can all be easily done from a reasonable ladder (not by me!).

Chock your truck! Learned that the hard way, broke a curb and a retaining wall while surfing da roof.

That photo was on flat ground, on slopes I certainly do and have chocks both on the truck itself and the chipper. In our volunteer fire department it is SOP to chock the truck anytime you stop though, and.... it isn't a bad idea.
In my case it was on a paved slope. Pulled the parking brake nice and tight. Right past the prawls, when on the truck best I can figure is my movement rocked the truck and caused the parking brake level to jump back into the teeth about half engaged. Shoulda chocked it, now I do it pretty religiously but 100% of the time when on top of the truck on any ground.

I almost bought a used bucket truck earlier this week, turned out someone else grabbed it a day or two before I made up my mind and it was already gone. I'm not upset though, because honestly I should probably be putting that money towards my new shop anyways. I did try to make the shop happen a while ago and mentioned it here, but life got in the way, so now I'm taking another crack at making it happen this year.

I'd watched the used market for years and it was an unusual configuration (under CDL, rear mount, automatic trans, air brakes) which fit what I was looking for. A little bummed it didn't happen, but oh well.

L. Tulipefera ? Not a great tree but very death resistant in my area. Any idea what’s taking them out?
Not L. Tulipefera (tulip poplar). I believe they are Populus 'x canescens' (gray poplar). Planted as a hedge 30 years ago - not the best choice for a hedge. I'll have to look closer to see if there is special reason for their decline other than old age.
