Today....

We got all the repairs done and got our title and tag stuff situated. Got to try out the new chip truck today. We did chip into it but towed our mini ex and trailer to the job (11k curb weight). It didn't even know it was back there. We like the 300 hp/860 ft lb 3126 and 9 speed. Got to get by the sign shop shortly.

I want your 3126 tune in my Peterbilt. I have the 9 speed Road Ranger as well, but I think somewhere in the lower or mid 200 hp. I can still get around fine, and fuel economy is great!

We have a bunch of 3126s. One 210hp 6 speed Eaton in a bucket truck, 230hp with a mt5 allison in another bucket truck, a 300hp 8ll in a boom truck, and the 300hp 9 speed in the chip truck. There is a big difference between the 210/230 HP and the 300 HP ones.

Nice to have some ubiquity for servicing. That’s cool. Unfortunately, being a CAT, there isn’t much I can do to alter it.

Yeah it is. But we also have a dt466, Mack E7, c10 cat, 855 Cummins, 501la Mercedes, 7.3 powerstroke, etc.

Have you looked at the uprate chart? IIRC 250hp to 300 internals are pretty much the same.

That sounds about right on the cat, if you have a 210 hp you cannot turn it up very much, because it has one piece aluminum pistons. If you have a higher horsepower engine, though, you can turn them up quite a bit. Often times, you can turn them up without doing much if anything mechanical.

A decent diesel performance shop should be able to point you in the right direction, there’s one around here, that is very well known for their work. I can send contact information if anyone wants to call them, even with questions.

I hired and successfully on boarded 10 guys this week (not today) but super excited to have these gents join our team!
That’s great! We hired one last week, we’re looking for one more, a lead climber, but it seems nearly impossible to find one around here. Four months of searching and not a single qualified applicant who will show up for an interview.
