This tree was used for the work climb during The New England Chapter’s 2012 Comp. It’s still standing strong despite a blow that knocked out a large 12” diameter leader and a couple 4” diameter branches. There’s a really interesting gall at the base. Looks like a pineapple.

… and I didn’t think they even had ones available like this one.
They are and they aren’t available. I lucked out by taking a chance with this purchase prior to COVID. It was a demo unit, and the only one the dealer had in stock. They can take a deposit, but it would be quite a wait to get one shipped.

Bought a $2500 temporary shop today. Out with the inside, in with the work benches and shelves! Thing is wicked clean and everything works: brakes, lights, bearing buddies, backup camera, ac, heat, stove, fridge, water, shower, heater, locks, windows, three spare wheels, 2 propane tanks, one owner. Wee bit guilty…163A20C0-CBA4-446D-82C5-FBC81C0A02A2.jpeg

A light misty rain caught me fifty feet up a big pine this evening. That didn't stop me from working my way about eight feet out on a limb to remove the dead outer half. Using my lanyard with a combination of thrusting and brute force to get that far from the vertical is a new experience for me. Getting some dead wood removed successfully in the rain made it even more satisfying. Expanding the comfort zone is a good thing.
