Titles

Alright, I started this new thread on an idea from some of you on a different thread (chainsaw vs. handsaw). So, give me a list of names in progression to try to replace the old set with. I'm talking about number of posts and the names that go along with them, like 1-25 newbie, 25-50 sprout, and so on. If I can access that stuff, I'll change the names.

you could use seed and sapling. When I see sprout, I think of bean-sprouts, which reminds me of vegetarian sandwiches, which reminds me of tofu. mmmmmmm, tofu!

1-25 "Newbee "(Yes as in BEE)
25-50 "Apprentice"
50-75 "Journeyman"
75-100 "Master"
100-150 "Promaster"
150-200 "Expert"
200-300 "SuperPro"
over 300 "Lost Cause"--No just kidding!
How's about "SuperMaster" or "GrandMaster"
My two cents.

I really don't like the idea of titles that suggest a certain level of expertise (SuperPro, Master, Expert) based on the number of posts. The number of posts may actually reflect nothing more than the amount of free time a member has. In fact, since the number of posts is already listed for each member, the title is rather redundant. And as we can see from other forums, such titles can promote meaningless posts just to boost post count so a member can reach a certain level.

How about allowing the user to select their title from a list of actual occupational terms such as arborist, climber, groundperson, logger, forester, owner, etc. that would more closely identify who the member is?

Just my two cents.

I agree..I don't want someone to assume I actually know more than I do (which ain't much sometimes). /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Well, 'm not sure how or if we can make it so you can pick your own title yet? I did change them for now. I hope that they are better than before. Let me know what you like/don't like and I will alter them again. Maybe a list will be better?

Mark, if they must be present, the current versions are decidedly better than the previous (stock?) ones.

I think a list to choose from would be great, but also maybe have just a blank field for the person to type in what they would like also. That way they are completely choosing themselves. I also think there will be enough incentive to post simply because of the interest in the subjects be discussed in each post.
My two cents.
Thanks.
