tied-on handsaw?

I've played around with "dummy" cords on my handsaw before. I found them to be more of a PIA and sometimes dangerous, than a benefit. It would always get snagged and either hang me up or pull the handsaw from the scabbard.

From a production standpoint, I find it easier to tie off the piece and let it hang, whist I stow my handsaw, then deal with the branch.

Now TCC's are another matter!!

Yeah, I've done it.
After I make a partial chainsaw cut and want to finish it with a handsaw and have to catch the piece due to landscape or ?? below, I'll tie off my handsaw so it falls beneath my feet.

never done that. ive made chain saw cuts and finished with a hand saw. but i wont take a piece that i cant hold with one arm while i put the hand saw away. when in doubt, put a rope on it

Been using a 48" retractable kevlar cord on the handsaw (snips, too) for about a year
Auto extends/retracts, full reach, left or right
... works for me.
