Throwline Storage Idea

Have you tried the Harold Faltermeyer cubes? They seem to hold up very well. Do you always unflake and reflake before the toss? The cubes folded seem a bit smaller. I will be interested in knowing if the flaked onto a tarp then folded throw line stays organized after transport. Having to reflake all the time would be a time sucker.

I only unflaked it and flaked for demonstration. I have used a Falteimer cube, but only briefly. They seem to be of high quality, but to me, are a bit pricy for what it is. Of course If I had to sell a tarp bag I would charge the same amount probably!

I am not proposing that this idea makes the cube obsolete, it was just something I was tinkering with and thought I would share!

I need a sewing machine...

Neat idea. But after you unrolled it and grabbed a throwing end at 1:24 the line was in the middle of a birds nest of throwline.

Keep at it though.

The Faltermeyer cubes are steep but they last forever, well worth the price.

I agree

I used to use a small tarp for my throwline. It worked fine except in situations like a forested area with lots of tallish ground cover or dead branches.

The Faltermeyer is so far the best cube I've owned.

nick could be right, and you still got sticks bothering your line......

I used to be a kiteman, and know alot about lines and flaking etc.

After a load of messing about I now use a lunch bag, it takes a little more time to flake in, but it never fails to work, I do sometimes Put the bag on a piece of tarp on site in case of a 1st miss.

I just launch the throw and the line feeds straight out the bag.

I use a 5 gallon bucket with old real estate yard signs cut in circles as dividers.

I can fit 3 lines easily in there and I just clip the weight to the wire handle. On the dividers I drill 2 holes in the middle as a finger hold and I also run the end of the line below the divider around these 2 holes to keep it separate.

I'm cheap.
