throwbag weights

A friend asked to see my new petzl throwbag and we compared shapes and ring sizes of various bags I have on hand (weaver, etc) (petzl the smallest).

I thought the new petzl seemed heavy and he noticed it's marked 12.4 oz.

So out of curiousity I threw some of the bags on the scale.

The Petzl was 12.75, the weaver 12.65 (although the petzl really felt heavier, weird), and the WS bags I measure were all right at the designated weight.

I guess I had assumed all bags were the "marked" weight. In truth at 12.75 the petzl is heavier than I would like, 11 would be a weight I would often like with the BS. Every ounce really matters for height, but 10 oz can be iffy for me coming down.

Sometimes I do have to use a 14 oz, but I can't shoot that very high.

you could have a "golf bag" of throwballs and line thicknesses. Step up to the shot and after consulting with your caddy/groundsman determine the right combination and whether you need the driver/bigshot.

While I haven't gone this crazy, I do have a range of bag weights from 8 to 16 oz. and choose which one is right for the height, species and obstacles.
