This is the Akimbo

I think fairly firm rope is best. Do some ups and downs on the rope you have to give the cams a chance to break in before you commit to a new rope. The anodization adds a variable to how the akimbo performs. It should polish off of the contact points fairly quickly and then you will have a much better feel for how it will do on a given rope long term.

After reading this prodigious thread for 52 pages, it really feels like I am watching the birth of some long awaited mystical child, it seems like there should be some kind of ceremony where the tree gods lift it above the upper terraces of the forest to be endowed by lightning. But even if we don't get to see something like that, I have been saving a few pennies from each paycheck and cannot wait to support this saga by throwing money at it, I have a brand new scion line that has been screaming "Where is my Akimbo!" ever since I bought it (it's really annoying to climb on a screaming rope by the way). I will keep watching this thread to see when it will be hitting stores, but for now thank you for the story, and all the amazing work by Jamie, and everyone that contributed.

Like Steve, I am regretting not plunking down the full $300. I thought by the time mass production begins all the kinks will be worked out. Boy was I wrong. :muyenojado:

Get a length of Yale Calamine, it is hands down the best in the PI class and functions awesome with any system. Seriously.

I'm thinking of getting another 150' hank of it. I have a 200' but just hate using 200' on smaller stuff. I don't bag my climbin' ropes. I coil by hand and inspect every inch.

I too regret not funding, but all decisions come with a silver lining (or a gray one) we get to watch as these guys that took the jump use a great piece of equipment. I only hope that rock o doesn't mess with it too much to get it to market. I would hate to see something as big and clunky as the RR2, from such a refined piece. I will patiently wait for it to come out... Or someone to not like it (I don't think will happen). Nicely done Jamie!

Luckily enough Mert, you know a guy that has one or two. :birra:
