Well damn there’s an argument for having strong DdRT skills even when SRT is your daily bread. When you’re advancing above an initial rope access set on a conifer or any tree with close set limbs multi-pitching DdRT sets is super efficient to scramble your way up until you find that awesome spot to set your SRT canopy anchor.

That's an old school thing. There's an argument for Blake's hitch, foot locking, etc. End of day, when srt did not exist, were mrt climbers deficient? I think not. One need not mrt to achieve work position... that said, you'll notice that I work on mrt skills occassionally; I use my lanyard, for instance, lol. But seriously, I've mrt'ed twice this year, which is infinitely more than last year. In each case, I've sort of wanted to, so it feels like a natural progression. The akimbo, to bring things back to the thread topic, has facilitated my entry into mrt, which the rw really didn't even though my original setup had a hitch climber pulley...
