Thinking about a mechanical acsender upgrade - but not without testing it

Well, I'm middleaged (assuming I live to 132) and just had surgery at the end of last month for a bad hernia. They fixed it, but I think I'm done with SRT. Although it's a lot slower and less efficient, MRT is also a lot easier on me. I'm not actually real fast, not quite real slow. Basically, I do everything half-fast. It's one of my better qualities. I can take my time and find the best places to hide the bodies, without frightening the wildlife.

Climb the way you like, and feel the most comfortable and safe. Life is short. The only reason I climb these days is because I like to 3D print cat skeletons and leave them in trees around town. Everybody needs a hobby.

I can’t think of any mechanicals that would like that side load/contact with limbs etc…. especially the zig zag. . .
Don't forget the BDB (BullDogBone, from Surveyor here on the Buzz). These things will take a hell of a beating and are quickly mid-line attachable. Simple robust construction and very tough. Still pays to be careful with it, keep it clean and sap-free, etc. but it is bloody hard to hurt one of these.

Never experienced it…. Heard good things though! Is it even possible to buy one?

It's the best SRT device available IMO, no shade at the others. It doesn't carry any ratings as far as i know, but has been extensively tested and i trust my life on it without hesitation. It tends really easily, engages instantly, is sooo fast on-off rope for redirects, is super smooth on descent, and has no mechanical springs to wear. And can work past pitch spots on the line.

If it sounds like I'm passionate about the BDB it's cause I am! It's just such a beautiful clever gadget

Contact @surveyor regarding their availability and expense. They are well worth the money

If you ever are near Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY, you’re welcome to try a ZigZag and/ or ZigZag Plus with Wrench, or hitch w Wrench, 2 different Akimbos ( Rock Exotica and GoFundMe) OG RopeRunner, and HitchHiker 2. I think that’s everything, plus a pile of foot, knee, chest, and hand ascenders. Got a decent size silver maple to play in.
I’ll gladly take that go fund me akimbo over here in California bud (smile face)
