Nice rope allignment. Is the tail on your climbing line just 6'-10' or does it go to the ground for retreival?

I do not really remeber Mark. When I rig out spars I use the RG for small and medium material. On large material I srt into a Grigri. I descent down the tail end using the splice as a stopper knot. This way you do not have to try to walk down the rope, you just pull it out. Big limitation would be a rescue situation.(not enough rope to get to the ground if you are high up. I just about always have going to the ground. I find it easier to pull the rope all the way through the knot. I have had to climb up to retrieve the rope.

Why don't you use the RG on big material?

On bigger material I like to srt because I jusr find it easier. Plus I would have to take the RG off and transfer it to a longer rope. Plus with a Grigri I find it has better work positioning, no compression of a hitch.
