The Rope Runner might replace my Unicender

I'm always open to change if its for the better. From what I've found from climbing on the RR for a little while and what I hear it sounds like SRT has taken another step up.

I would like to see how it does on a limb walk specifically going out. When you have part of your weight on a branch does it release easily?

Great review Oceans, sounds like a little bit of a learning curve. Can't wait to give it a try, although I will never fully give up the RW.

I also have a couple of Surveyors bronze bushings so I guess I am all set.

Rope Runner techniques, rope walking ascents, limb walks and hands free ascents.
Learning to be more comfortable and functional with the new Rope Runner by Singing Tree.
Special thanks to Ezra and Amy for helping me film.
....remind me not to wear this tie die shirt again!!!!
Comment about the tight eye on the side of the carabiner, this is a back up life support, the rope grab is fully rated but why not back it up. I will shorten the tether when I determine the optimum length to clean up the system.
My neck lanyard is made of shock cord and would completely open if it were to snag on something.
I have since started to change my descent method to one hand on the "bird" and the back of my other hand touching the descent line for monitoring, not in the brake hand mode as would be a muscle memory confusion with the Unicender or figure 8 type devices.
Just about ready give it a real flight.

There are two points on which I would like clarification:

1) What motivates you to use a variable tether between saddle and RR?
2) Why do you want to rotate RR orientation differently between ascent and descent?

1) Answer: As I normally do not include a passive component in my climbing system for the ascent, (long ascents or when I feel a back up is wanted) I add a croll and tend it with the neck elastic) the main component of my system (the RR in this case or also Unicender etc) serves dual purpose. Hand ascender or descender/work positioning. This is optimized by the ability to locate the device with the adjustable tether to its best position. It can also be done by making your rope bridge adjustable but as I will at times add the Croll and I prefer the tether, that way the Croll can stay on the bridge.
2) Answer: The orientation of that "bird" and the hand position needed to change from ascent to descent. Ascent, my hand verifies the setting of the bird each time. Descent, I have better control with my hand and also the ability to push up with my thumb if more friction is needed.
