JohnnyPro was pretty open about his history as a child, etc., by way of explaining why he might behave differently than most folks. I do not ever recall him admitting to taking acid. Maybe I missed it.

Making such a statement about someone, if untrue, and which has the potential to damage their reputation, is potentially criminal behavior. The words libel, slander and defamation all popped into my head as soon as I read your post. In my humble opinion, unless you have some sort of proof of such things, you should not make such statements. You would not like it if someone made up things about you that put you in a bad light amongst your peers, I don't think.

I generally like most of your posts, and value your contributions. I just think you should be more careful about possibly doing damage to someone's reputation. Try to contribute positive things to the discussions.

I know my opinion on this was not asked for, but since JohnnyPro is not here to defend himself, I just don't think it's fair to be saying such things.

I originally asked or suggested that possibility (lsd) as I had experience along those lines when much younger. I totally agree with.

I believe Johnny said it wasn't his scenario.
I wish he'd drop some footage, all differences in communication aside he seems like a genuine good fella with wonderful insights into rope work and a natural talent for climbing. I think face to face I would really enjoy his company

as to the intuitive side of things my dyslexia has def' influenced my continuing use of the mac software and operating system I can't stand windows in is a evolutionary dead end IMO a poor second rate copy of Apple that is clunky and stupid.

And we pay a high price for all apple products over here so there is a certain amount of love needed to stick with the more expensive option.

Thanks so much for the detailed answer, Stihlmadd! It is much appreciated. I'm going to copy and paste this answer into a text editor and save it for future reference, for the time when I'm in a position to give it a try.

Apple products are more expensive here, too, but it is probably much worse where you are. Proprietary systems are basically monopolies, and as such, the lack of competition causes prices to be higher.

I think Apple actually tried the idea of having an "open" system for just a minute, in which they let others create their own versions of an Apple computer. I guess they were hoping to do the same thing that Microsoft does, as far as having the operating system sales be the primary revenue producer for the company. I think the people running the company at the time felt as you do about the operating system, and hoped that if the Apple operating system were available to more people, it would win back market share from Microsoft, because of what they felt was the Apple operating system's obvious superiority.

All this happened a long time ago, so I may not be remembering things exactly right, but I think the effort to broaden adoption of the Apple operating system by allowing other companies to manufacture Apple computers had a massive unintended consequence; namely, sales of Apple's own hardware dropped through the floor, and threatened to end the company due to a lack of revenue. I think this is what caused them to bring Steve Jobs back into the company, and the first thing he did was to stop allowing others to make Apple computers. The rest is history. For Apple's bottom line, a monopoly just rules!

The plus for the folks that have to pay higher prices for Apple products is that those higher prices have allowed Apple to survive and thrive and have a huge war chest with which to develop all of the new products that everyone loves so much.

The road could go ever on with my comments about many things in this situation, but I'm not wasting my time with anything other than thanks for your concern . Hey, Treetopflyer! Great post! Maybe I owe you an apology, because I can see how JohnnyPro's words could be interpreted in many ways. I apologize if I came on too strongly. Great job on your part, amazing really, to find that exact post. Here's an excerpt of it, which is some of JohnnyPro's poetry.

You see, Treetopflyer, in my lack of experience, I don't believe I have ever actually climbed a walnut tree. I was reading JohnnyPro's words as though he was literally being burned by acid when climbing a walnut tree. Not having experience, I guess I thought it might actually be possible. I thought he might also be alluding to his difficulties in dealing with people, when he talks about being burned. There is plenty of room in his post for a different interpretation, however, so again, I apologize to you personally for coming on too strongly.

Would have been a cool learning experience but I ended up visiting a buzzer down in placerville and did a visit with him, Dan CarstenTree, here he is Chisel bit.anyway on the way home I stopped to visit friends outside of Nevada City for a few days and meet a friend who was passing through while visiting from Spain. Got a call from a shrimp boat in Oregon who needed a deckhand the next day in Coos Bay. Since then I've been fishing with these fellas and really enjoying the gig. If the season holds up like its been through October I'm sure to clear 50k which will be a good boost for whatever is next. Looked at a rental and some raw land on the Smith River today. The rental is literally 1200 ft from Jedediah Smith park! Hope we get it or find something else close to it, would cut my commute from 2.5 hrs to 35 minutes.

for the record as a young fella I had many a fine time under the effects of different substances and my personal opinion is that JP was tripping balls there at some points but that is my personal opinion based solely on my own prior history and has no basis in any facts other than I have spent days tripping balls myself and can relate to others in similar circumstances.
no offence given means none taken and any hurt feelings can be addressed with the right form which thanks to X-man is now downloadable as a PDF. :D
