The road goes ever on..

Stihlmadd, loved the video. As others have said, beautiful countryside. Thanks for sharing. It looks like a ton of editing work went into it. Keep them coming, if it's not too much to ask.

You are most welcome,
and yes many more hours of editing went into this baby than I normally spend on a tree work vid. thats in part of why the Facebook request for this one as I felt it worthwhile for a broader audience to appreciate aside from us
tree tragics :D

I am finding the down time after a big day when I am still all wired in go time easier to deal with when prior to the vids I used to spend that time on the playstation shooting' shit.
the games don't really relax me just make me tired by wearing my mind out , nothing actually creative comes out of the time invested and I have certainly spent some in the past.
if I was better set up I would probably be in a shed making stuff I do find that very soothing just knocking around.
so in the meantime I will be happy to continue smashdown production therapy.
cheers for the repost Tim much appreciated.(y)

Something extra to look forward to when I get home. Can't watch it on my phone, well I could but it would be diminished and vids eat up my data. Sure would like to visit one day. I read bill Bryson's " Sunburned Country" can't remember much of it but it was funny. Well we're headed into Winchester Bay to deliver, maybe 90,000# of shrimps. If the weather whips up again maybe I'll get a couple days to drive home. On a tangent, anybody else notice when it blows on the water and windwaves are 4'+ it looks like thousands of jabba the huts everywhere?

Ben, you are most welcome for the re-post of the video here.

I'll try to quote and respond to a post from Steve in order to ask him if he's had any luck yet trying to post to Facebook. I'm not on Facebook, so I'm unable to do it myself, and unable to verify whether or not it has been done.

Video editing and posting to YouTube is an amazing phenomenon, in my opinion as an old guy. The ability to share aspects of your life with everyone on the planet with an internet connection is just amazing. Especially when it's the big guns of the arb world showing how it is that they do what they do. With many other occupations, it is just not possible due to restrictions on the use of cameras.

Another aspect of this capability that I wonder about is the long-term committment of Google to the cache of material that they are accumulating. I need to read up on their policy statement in this regard. As big as Google is, these videos may still be around 20, 30, 50 or 100 years from now. This repository may end up being used for research in the future.

I guess I'm thinking that it would be cool if your grandchildren or other descendants could see your face and hear your voice, long after you are gone. I know it probably feels like you might be giving up too much privacy when you do this.

I can tell you from my perspective, though, when I see the faces and hear the voices of people like August Hunicke, Kevin Bingham, Reg Coates and all the other great arborists out there, all I get is a warm feeling of friendship for these guys. It sounds funny, but I truly love them all, for what they've brought to my life. I can't forget to mention JohnnyPro, as I feel he risked a lot to expose himself the way he did. I love him, too.

This forum and the members of it feels like a brotherhood to me.

Couldn't find it on YouTube can't pull it off here. Can you send me the YouTube link and I'll post it.

Hello, Steve!

I had a post earlier in this thread explaining how I think it might be possible to lift the link off the page. I don't have a Facebook account, so I can't verify if you've succeeded at posting Ben's video there or not.

If you could post a short note about whether or not you've had any luck, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ben,
Got a chance to go home. Nice video. Crazy editing work. I see where that one guy was coming from on the fades but I can appreciate the arteestree. Seriously good stuff. How come yours and some others are so crisp and sharp color and others seem pale and washed out? I'd like to do some vids eventually myself, got a go pro just need to learn how to edit...and stop all this fishing mallarky

Thankyou Flex, appreciate the good vibes, the film quality is a question I can go on about so you asked?
camera quality, camera settings is the first port of call
then light quality which does seem to be generally better over here due to our country being closer to the sun :D
youtube limits the quality (size) of its uploads files until they deem you to be a more worthy candidate and increase the allowance for things like HD etc
I use a pro level editing suite and a mac to do my edits on.
hope that helps some ways to explain .
cheers Ben.(y)

Ben, I apologize if I've already asked this question, but is it Apple's own high end video editing program that you're using? I think it might be called Final Cut Pro? I went into an Apple store, and played around with a machine that had that program loaded onto it.

It seemed like a really slick program that fairly intuitively and powerfully did what I wanted it to do, in the short time I played with it. I'm pretty much a beginner at the video editing stuff, so it seemed pretty compelling. I own only Windows OS machines, but the apparent power of the Apple laptop combined with that software in terms of the ease of use and intuitive workflow makes me want one. Up to now, just playing around with the Apple machines, I've never felt like it could do anything my Windows machine couldn't. This one application seems to show an area in which the Apple machine may outmatch the Windows machine.

So I'm wondering if I've guessed correctly about the software that you use, and if you feel the same way about the intuitive nature of the software, after having used it for a long time.

Thanks in advance for any answers you choose to give.

I'm sort of concerned about him and wish him all the best. Was on a tightrope.

Yes Tim you are correct, I am running final cut pro X (not a cheap program) and have numerous third party plug-ins for that program on a apple mac Yosemite machine.
I have never owned or operated a windows based computer so am unable to answer that one, my previous printing background was all apple because of the intense graphic based work demanded a high end machine suited to the industry and apple catered to that end.
as to the intuitive side of things my dyslexia has def' influenced my continuing use of the mac software and operating system I can't stand windows in is a evolutionary dead end IMO a poor second rate copy of Apple that is clunky and stupid.
as to the current business style and methods of Apple corp thats another issue entirely.
And we pay a high price for all apple products over here so there is a certain amount of love needed to stick with the more expensive option.

from little things big things grow that and you do have mouths to feed so no sweat if I do get this SRT thingy going on then I may stihl be climbing when you get here or you could help Levi with his intercontinental canoe trip :)
I love all my children ,but they have to understand I gotta feed my soul too .. Lol.. Srt is different feel for sure ,but even a dslyxic Aussie should have no problem taking to it with time invested:rico:;)..Just like the canoe trip .. It will be an adventure for sure.
