i personally liked the touch of the helmet as the aiming point for felling... bright and easily seen.

Really shows how Pathetic Hollywood is.. Never mind read a book or watch a video on tree cutting.. that dork never even got the text. He couldn't even cut his beard!!and I stress EVEN!!

Cutting the front notch allows the tree time to prepare for the direction of fall.

Really though Bob was distracted by the reporter's question. It's like a golfer at the tee. I've had hecklers/clients yell "do you have insurance" between cuts.

On one episode of TOH they brought in a guy to grind a stump. some kind of landscaper I think. He rented a push around stump grinder to do the job for the show. The stump was in the open on flat ground. The 'scaper had glasses on, maybe just sun glasses. He did part of the stump then 'showed' the homeowner how to operate the machine. The lady wasn't very big, 125# at the most. The handles were set too high for her to get proper leverage. Oh, PPE??? she got earmuffs!

I wrote to the producers and the host cable channel, Discovery??? No reply, none expected.

Its a good thing that Norm was around so that the construction stuff was done right.

This seems to be the root of the problem with homeowners. In the 30 seconds it takes to show how to improperly cut a tree, bringing risk to themselves and property, why cant they discuss the traits of a good company. Even the 'professionals' some homeowners view as reputable contribute to the problems we see all the time in the industry.

Its a sad situation...
